How to get started with badminton

Badminton is played at clubs, on fixed evenings in a sports hall. Recreational and competitive players often share the same evening.

  1. Pick a club near youThe list above shows who each club is for and whether it offers a trial training. You can usually borrow a racket the first time.
  2. Ask for a trial trainingYou train along once or a few times with a group at your level, before you decide. Write to the club in English if you don't speak Dutch.
  3. Become a member if you like itThe club places you in a group at your level. Membership fees differ per club and are usually paid per season.

Studying at the University of Groningen or Hanze? You can also do this sport through ACLO, the student sports centre.
