How to get started with football (soccer)
In the Netherlands you play football at a club (vereniging), in a team with players of your own age and level. Clubs train once or twice a week and play matches on Saturday or Sunday during the season, which runs from September to May.
- Pick a club near youCheck whether the club has a team for your age. Many clubs also have recreational or 7-a-side teams for adults.
- Ask for a trial trainingYou can usually train along a few times before you decide.
- Become a memberThe club finds a team for you. Fees differ per club and per age group.
Just want a kickabout? The Cruyff Courts around the city are free to use.
